Name: Nick Ganem
Title: Trustee
How long have you been in the industry? 35 years
What does SMACNA Arizona mean to you? It means an association that allows contractor members to give back to the industry and the community. It has also given me the opportunity to become acquainted with my colleagues and competitors.
Hobbies: In my free time, I like to play golf and exercise.



Name: Allen Hendrix

Title: Lead Estimator / Board of Director
How long have you been in the industry? Eight years
What does SMACNA Arizona mean to you? It means better training, quality and final product. Our contractors have greater experience and knowledge of the industry. Further, SMACNA contractors care about their employees.
Hobbies: Baseball and family. I coached baseball for 14 years after my playing days ended. I coached Little League, all-star teams and travel baseball as well as four years I coached at Boulder Creek High School's summer baseball program, where I had the opportunity to coach and mentor incoming freshman for four years and varsity American Legion baseball for one year.

But my fist love is being a husband and father. Baseball has been a family sport for us and I now attend as many practices and all possible games for my sons. I also look forward to having time to travel with my wife Renee once our youngest goes to college in a couple of years.

Hobbies: In my free time, I like running, hunting, riding motorcycles and playing with my grandson.

Hobbies: : I enjoy trap shooting, serving as a Boy Scout leader and spending time with my family.

Hobbies: Hunting, fishing and taking photos. I also enjoy reading about U.S. history and spending time with family -- especially with my grandkids.

What does SMACNA Arizona mean to you? SMACNA is an entity that continues to provide the highest standards for the fabrication of HVAC duct construction. SMACNA also lends itself toward education and the evolving new designs in this area.
Hobbies: In my spare time, I enjoy music, hiking, dancing and traveling.

Meet the JATC Staff

Name: George Sapien
Company: Arizona Sheet Metal Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC)
Title: Coordinator
How long have you been in the industry? 37 years
What does SMACNA Arizona mean to you? SMACNA Arizona plays an important role along with the Sheet Metal Workers Local 359 in supporting the Arizona Sheet Metal JATC, which educates and trains the most qualified sheet metal workers in the industry. Apprentices receive college accredited training in AutoCad, TAB (air balancing) refrigeration/service, welding and HVAC fabrication and installation. Three SMACNA Arizona contractors serve on our board to help ensure that the workforce they need is the best-trained in the industry.
Hobbies: When I have free time, I enjoy hunting, fishing and baseball.



Name: Tod Truettner
Company: Arizona Sheet Metal JATC
Title: Instructor
How long have you been in the industry? 20 years
What does SMACNA Arizona mean to you? I feel that having an organization that combines management and workers is imperative to any trade. A cooperative attitude from both sides should always be present. Having this cooperation is the only way that workers can help businesses flourish and at the same time management can help the workers flourish.
Hobbies: I have many hobbies and interests. I shoot tournament level archery and am a factory sponsored shooter for APA Archery. I shoot with my 14-year-old son and we also work with groups promoting archery in the school districts.

I have played and taught guitar since I was a teenager.

I also donate a lot of my time to charitable organizations such as Ronald McDonald House and the Crisis Nursery, and work with my Masonic Lodge with many other charities.

I also donate time teaching the martial arts to underprivileged children. I have been involved in martial arts since I was 13 years old and hold belts in many different styles.

I am very involved with my son's DeMolay group, which is a youth group for young men sponsored by my Masonic Lodge. I am an advisor and liaison for his chapter.

How long have you been in the industry? I have been in the industry for 19 years. My first 15 years were the field, working from journeyman to a general foreman. I have been a full-time instructor for four years.
What does SMACNA Arizona mean to you? SMACNA gives our industry a standard on which to follow and is constantly striving to provide new and innovated ideas for our industry.
Hobbies: In my spare time, I like to go fishing and watching my kids in their sporting events and violin concerts. I also enjoy just hanging out and particularly like going to ASU football games with family and friends.
